Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Growing up and being raised in California USA she started her modelling professional career in Italy. In 1996 she debuted as an actress in the TV film Her Costly Affair. Her fight to secure an appearance for Starship Troopers, a film that featured mostly minor roles, was a gruelling battle. The transition was difficult for Amy since she needed to move from modelling into acting. Models aren't regarded as the best actors so they tend to get smaller, insignificant roles. Amy was determined to keep trying. She worked her way up to greater roles, starting in The 70s series and Varsity Blues film. After a few years Amy made the jump to more prominent roles. She starred in the love story Just Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds. Amy achieved the fame she had been searching for for more than 10 years when her film just Friends debuted. She continued with significant films like the Crank series with Jason Statham and the series Shameless in which she was a well loved recurring character.
